Hey, everyone, just wanted to make sure we continue to mention the Blue Ridge Breakaway. The Breakaway is a one-day ride sponsored by the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce and is scheduled for Saturday, August 20th, 2016. There’s also a countdown timer for the Breakaway on our home page at bicyclehaywoodnc.org.
Registration (which ranges from $46 to $66 depending on your route choice) opened on March 1st. Early-bird registration is now available and will run through August 1st.
Here’s a little from the website:
The Blue Ridge Breakaway is an annual cycling event in support of the initiatives of the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber services the towns of Waynesville, Maggie Valley, Lake Junaluska, Canton and Clyde.
The […] Breakaway is an adrenaline-pumping ride through county lanes, scenic byways and the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. The ride begins at the Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center […] conveniently located off of Interstate 40 and Highway 23/74.
With a variety of routes specifically designed for riders of all skill levels, the Blue Ridge Breakaway is sure to please.
The Breakaway offers four routes [Rabbit, Panther, Trout, and Hawk] suitable for intermediate level riders to avid cyclists. All routes begin and end at the Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center.
Please Note: Blue Ridge Breakaway is a ride, not a race! All riders are expected to follow all traffic laws including stop signs and stop lights.

Hey, everyone, we’ve just uploaded a great photo shared by Carina Botterbusch to our Facebook page. As you can see, it really helps make our Page inviting, so please share yours and we will use one of them! Post them on our Facebook page or email them to email@example.com. We now have an Instagram account, too. Also, you can use the hash tag #bicyclehaywoodnc on both Instagram and Facebook and we’ll see your image.
Soon we also hope to have a countdown up on bicyclehaywoodnc.org for that biggest of Haywood County cycling events, the Blue Ridge Breakway. It’s scheduled for Saturday, August 20th, and registration is open now on the website. [Countdown is now up. –Matt]
